Villa Nova is certainly on of the hidden gems in Anchorage, especially if you're interested in rustic Italian cuisine. The restaurant has suffered a bit over the last 3 years, as a new owner and chef took over in 2001. And although the menu and style were still the same under the new owners, and the food was actually consistently good, the overall effect was just somehow a letdown from what Villa Nova had been under its original owner, Giorgio. Fortunately for Anchorage diners, Giorgio recently repurchased Villa Nova and reopened in August 2004. This is a gastronomic boon to food lovers, as the food at Villa Nova under Chef Giorgio is simply world class. The atmosphere is casual and inauspicious(the restaurant is actually located in a strip mall), and the prices are not excessive. Great for an intimate date or a family sit-down.
